Field Internship in Health Sciences

Description

This internship is strongly recommended for students intending to pursue careers in Environmental Health, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physical Therapy, as well as selected other health science fields. Can be used to satisfy the major oncentration but not the basic liberal arts and sciences core, in the A.S. in Liberal Arts and Sciences (Mathematics and Science) curriculum. Students are selected by the adviser for this course on the basis of academic preparation and suitabilityfor the field experience, subject to availability. The field internship supplements classroom theory and laboratory instruction with related professional training without compensation. Students are placed with selected agencies for a minimum of 90 hours. Course requirements include a monthly seminar of at least two hours for the discussion of field assignments, and submission of a final reportcovering the activities participated in during the experience. The final grade is determined by the departmental adviser. Proof of liability insurance may be required. All internships must be completed before graduation to be included in thestudent's degree certification.
