The Department of Business at Queensborough Community College (QCC) offers a fully online degree program in Business Administration.  The program is designed for working adults who are returning to college to earn a degree. (All students are welcome in the program.)

The academic requirements for the degree program are identical to those for the traditional A.S. in Business. The main difference is that the courses for the program are offered in a fully online, asynchronous format.  Students can take courses from home and do not have to attend online lectures.

The program is fully transferable to many bachelor’s degree programs in the New York City area. Queensborough also has a transfer agreement with CUNY’s School of Professional Studies (SPS). That arrangement will allow QCC graduates to pursue a B.S. in Business at SPS fully online.

Students can enroll now in the online Business Administration program in several ways:

  1. New Queensborough students are asked to choose a major degree program upon admission.  Students may choose Business Administration online at that time.

  2. Current Queensborough students can switch their major degree program to Business Administration online by speaking with their Adviser or the Program Director, Professor Nina Sarkar.

Students in the online program must:

  1. Have a reliable computer and internet access.  Students are responsible for purchasing and maintaining a computer and internet access.  Technical assistance with campus software is available from the college.

  2. Be willing and able to work independently on the courses.  Online courses provide students with a lot of freedom, but they also require students to keep up with the work.  Online courses are not “easier” and require at least the same amount of work as traditional, in person courses.

  3. Complete two online workshops before they start taking online classes in the program, the eLearning Readiness Course and the Introduction to Blackboard Course. Details on these workshops are available at the college's eLearning website

Students who enroll in the online Business Administration program will:

  1. Receive priority for registering for online courses in the program.  Students will be contacted by their adviser prior to the start of registration each term and be provided with instructions on how to register for online courses in the program.

  2. Be provided with specialized advising so that they complete the program in a timely manner and without any unnecessary course credits.

  3. Be provided with transfer advising so that they can transition to a bachelor’s degree program that fits their needs without delay.

  4. Be invited to attend online Business seminars to help them understand career and degree options and important and current topics in the business world.

If you have questions about the program, please contact Professor Sarkar at NSarkar@qcc.cuny.edu or (718) 281-5418.
