This course examines the origins of Christianity, from the life and death of the historical Jesus in the first century to the Christianization of the Roman world in the fourth and fifth centuries. The course discusses the historical context of the development of and acceptance, or rejection, of major Christian beliefs, aswell as the effects of Roman persecution and ultimately acceptance of Christianity and the effects of Christianity on Roman culture and society.
