Description

An introductory course designed to develop skills for informed listening, understanding, and appreciation of music. Basic elements including melody, harmony, rhythm, texture, and form are discussed and used to analyze significant periods of musical history within but not limited to the Western art music tradition. Required readings, listening, and concert attendance. Students may not receive credit for both MUS-101 and MUS-102. MUS-102 is intended for students who have a background in music.
