All incoming students, both Freshmen and Transfer, will be assessed for placement upon admission. In 2019, CUNY ended its policy of testing students for placement. Instead, incoming students are evaluated based on their past academic record. One exception is that ESL students may be tested for readiness for instruction and course work in the English language. The tabs above outline how incoming students will be assessed, how they will be placed into their initial English and mathematics courses, and how they can satisfy any developmental requirements.
