Description
This is an introductory course, designed to develop an understanding of the European classical music tradition of the 18th and 19th centuries. After an examination of the elements of music and principles of structure and design in music, representative works of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras will be studied. The course aims to develop intelligent listening skills, and to promote an understanding of musical style. Students may not receive credit for both MUS-101 and MUS-102.
